Our standing offer on lamb mince: 1.3kg (3lb) for £15 minced on the premises from lamb we've broken down ourselves. Lamb mince has far more character than beef and carries strong flavours without being lost. It's the backbone of a shepherd's pie, a moussaka, a proper keema and any kofta worth eating. Three 1lb bags, or four smaller ones — leave a note with your order.
Brown it hard and drain the fat before adding liquid — lamb releases more than beef, and skipping this is what makes a greasy shepherd's pie.
Serves 9–10 at 125–150g per person, or 7–8 for a shepherd's pie or moussaka. One 1lb bag serves 3–4.
